About Food Corporation of India 

The Food Corporation of India is a statutory body which falls under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution by the Government of India. The organization was formed in Chennai in the year of 1965. Along with the current FCI headquarters in New Delhi, it also has multiple district/regional centres in various states. FCI is one of the biggest corporations in India and one of the largest supply chain management systems in Asia. 

FCI functions through 5 zonal offices and multiple regional offices which fall under them. 

The 5 zonal offices of the FCI are:

  • Zonal Office, North: Noida
  • Zonal Office, East: Kolkata
  • Zonal Office, West: Mumbai
  • Zonal Office, North-East: Guwahati
  • Zonal Office, South: Chennai

FCI alone is not a decision making authority, it follows direct instructions from the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and Ministry of Agriculture.

Food Corporation of India recruitment process

The FCI follows a 3 - 4 step recruitment process for all the vacancies. Eligible candidates who clear all the three levels will be posted to various FCI open positions across India. The three-level process includes:

  • Phase-I 
    • This will be an objective type computer based test. For each wrong answer, negative marking of 1/4th of the mark assigned to the question will be applicable.
